ABSTRACT
The article discusses the $45.5 million loss of geothermal power developer Raser Technologies in 2008. It explains that the losses are due to an impairment cost on some geothermal wells at the company's Truckee and Thermo sites. The company posted sales of $172,203 in 2008, a 46% decline in 2007. However, Martin Petersen, Raser's chief financial officer, expressed his optimism saying that the company has one of the largest portfolios of undeveloped geothermal resources.
