ABSTRACT
This reports on the delivery by ArvinMeritor of a prototype heavy-duty tractor equipped with the first Meritor diesel-electric drivetrain to Wal-Mart Stores. According to Carsten J. Reinhardt of ArvinMeritor's Commercial Vehicle Systems (CVS) business, the Meritor dual-mode hybrid drivetrain is specifically designed for linehaul, over-the-road trucks. Navistar collaborated with Cummins for the development of this Wal-Mart-specific vehicle. Wal-Mart plans to test and evaluate the prototype tractor at one of its distribution centers.
