ABSTRACT
The article presents an economic outlook of Laos for the year 2009 where commodity and energy prices are surging and are expected to impact the economy. Accordingly, economic experts from Business Monitor International Ltd. (BMI) believe that the country will not be immune to the global slowdown, as export revenue in the year will be impaired by falling commodity and energy prices. It notes that the country remains a largely agricultural economy with more than 80% of the work force.
