This article deals with the use of sulfates, common detergents in several cleansers, in hair shampoos. Several companies assert that sulfates strip the hair of moisture and causes color to fade more quickly. There are new shampoos, such as L'Oréal Paris EverPure, that contain no sulfates in a bid to clean hair gently. According to cosmetic chemist Ni'Kita Wilson, all cleansing agents trip hair of oils whether they are sulfates or the slightly milder detergents in these products.
