ABSTRACT
The article reports on the use of the Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) motion-sensing chips from STMicroelectronics by Openmoko Inc. for providing motion-sensing functions in Openmoko's NeoFreerunner LINUX-based mobile open platform. According to Benedetto Vigna, General Manager of STMicroelectronic's MEMS and Sensors, Transceivers and Healthcare division, the deal would further strengthen their positions in handsets and mobile applications.
