The article features Su Xing, a Shaolin martial monk who was sent to the U.S. from China to preserve the Shaolin arts and culture. As a child, he joined a kung fu school in Shandong and entered the Shaolin Temple. When he started practicing Zen, his kung fu improved as his mind became more calm and peaceful. Conventional meditation helps in controlling breathing, muscle relaxation and anxiety and stress reduction.
