ABSTRACT
The article focuses on fire weather in New Zealand. To support fire management decision-making in the country, the New Zealand Fire Danger Rating Systems (NZFDRS) has been developed. It makes use of the fire weather index system which provides ratings of relative ignition potential and fire behaviour. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) expects that future fire activity will be more prevalent due to global warming and climatic changes.
