ABSTRACT
The article reports on the new regulation recommended by the Environment Canada, limiting D4 and D5 silicones in waste streams to prevent their buildup in the environment in Canada. It relates that D5 silicone is an ingredient in many personal care products, as well as in GreenEarth Cleaning solvent. Moreover, the Silicones Environmental Health & Safety Council emphasizes that the agency will factor in additional information from recent scientific studies on silicone persistence and toxicity.
