ABSTRACT
The article reports on the wireless growth posted by the U.S. phone company AT&T for the fourth quarter of 2008. It had earlier warned that it saw some softness in its consumer business, but it revealed that it added 2.7 million net new wireless subscribers in the quarter. According to chief financial officer Rick Lindner, AT&T is in good shape for 2008 despite some signs of economic weakness in telephone lines and broadband amid a slowing housing market.
