The article reports on the launching of the social network CancerSupportNet.com by social media startup Social Sciences Net. Jack Brandt, founder and president of Social Sciences Net, hopes to create a place for cancer patients with the launch of the social network. The network was designed to connect people in similar situations through profiles, chat rooms, email, instant messaging, friend lists and blogging. Meanwhile, other social networking and health information sites targeted for cancer patients were also launched including American Cancer Society Cancer Survivors Network, My Cancer Place and CancerMatch.
