ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the FP-45 Liberator pistol developed by the Inland Guide Lamp Manufacturing Division of General Motors in 1942. The pistol was designed for resistance fighters/guerillas in Europe and Asia. It comprised of only 23 parts, which allowed workers at the Guide Lamp plant in Anderson, Indiana to manufacture a pistol every six to seven seconds. The U.S. Office of Strategic Services perceived the pistols as impractical because they can be used to shot only once.
