ABSTRACT
The article reports on the acquisition by Microsoft Corp. of venture capital-backed Danger, whose software powers the Sidekick mobile phone. The acquisition derails an initial public offering worth up to $100 million envisioned in Danger's government filings in December 2007. In Danger, Microsoft gets added firepower in its looming mobile war with Apple's iPhone, Google's Android coalition and other competitors.
