The author examines three areas that cause downsizing and offers tips on avoiding such an undesirable circumstance. He advises executives to share performance goals and metrics with job applicants, during interviews. Also noted is the failure of several managers to hone the skills of their people through training. He states that a common cause of layoffs is poor management.
