ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the factors that can contribute to poor prognosis on cancer patients. It mentions that two of these factors are tumor hypoxia and overexpression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It is believed that tumor hypoxia can upregulate signaling by EGFR and other receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). A study of Y. Wang and colleagues found out that hypoxia can extend the half-life of EGFR by delaying the formation of endosomes that cause the destruction of EGFR.
