Monitor mandate would outstrip production

Reports that a requirement to equip all vehicles with tire pressure sensors would outstrip production capacity in the United States. Use of a sensor mounted inside each wheel to monitor tire pressure and transmit a signal to the vehicle's control unit; Beru Corp.'s opening of a sensor plant in Bretten, Germany; TRW Inc.'s production of a sensor system going on European models in 2001.
