ABSTRACT
The author relates the experience of Merrilee Satriano about her job as a dispatcher. The author notes that Soriano works 10 hours a day with monitors that operate computer-aided dispatch software and there are also alarms that notify her of prior incidents related to an address or suspect. The author furthers that Soriano's main job is to get officers monitor corners at the school and in the surrounding neighborhoods. The author notes that Soriano advises one who is taking a job as a dispatcher must not be emotionally sensitive when dealing with people.
