ABSTRACT
The article reports on novel approaches to imaging and tracking of hip topology. Delayed gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (dGEMRIC) of cartilage is being used to detect the early stages of arthritis through the loss of glycosaminoglycans as an alternative to traditional magnetic resonance imaging. dGEMRIC is better suited to tracking hip topology because it works for the early stages and matches clinical pain scores.
