The article presents responses from two hospital executives to the question of what to do to a situation wherein a hospital is to be sold, which should be kept as a secret from staff. Brad Neet, president and chief operating officer (COO) of Saint Michael's Hospital, says that he would inform his staff members about the sale because open, honest communication is what builds trust and credibility. Philip Newbold, president of Memorial Hospital/Health System, would conduct open forum or roundtable discussions with staff and physicians.
