ABSTRACT
The article reports on the major job cuts and poor financial performance in the third quarter of 2008 to be announced by mobile phone company Motorola. Analysts are also expecting a clear strategy statement from co-chief executive officer (CEO) Sanjay Jha on the future of the company's handset business and some indication of exactly where the job cuts and cost reductions will be focused. Some analysts expect Motorola to narrow its software focus to Android and Windows Mobile, which means most of the cuts will come from its Symbian and Linux businesses.
