ABSTRACT
The article reports that the telecommunications industry is closely watching Alcatel-Lucent chief executive officer (CEO) Ben Verwaayen for signs of a credible market strategy when he reports on the company's third-quarter 2008 performance. In the wake of a major executive changes, many, including Nomura's Richard Windsor, are hoping for a decent performance. Analysts expect the company to return to profitability after six consecutive losing quarters. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect net profit of $205 million on sales of $5.07 billion.
