This article reports on the plans of IBM for a revolutionary integration of cloud computing and traditional information technology (IT) which was discussed during its meeting with partners and clients at its conference facility in Palisades, New York. This move runs counter to Cisco's continued path of acquisitions to build a strategy around network-resident software. But according to Charles King, principal analyst with Pund-IT Research, the fact that two very large vendors are working independently on innovative IT speaks well for end users.
