The article reports on the forecast of Strategy Analysts for the global mobile phone industry in 2009. Strategy Analytics expects a shakeout in the market that could affect between 50 and 100 phone makers. Neil Mawson of the research firm asserted that Sony Ericsson and Motorola are likely to exit the cellphone market. A combination of the economic downturn and the credit crisis left the industry reeling in the fourth quarter of 2008 from its weakest growth rate in seven years.
