The article reports on the plan of the Irish government to increase the number of electric vehicles in the nation. The government is hoping that the plan will drive foreign investment into the country. As part of the Electric Vehicle plan, 10 percent of all vehicles in Ireland, or about 250,000 cars and trucks, will be powered by electricity by 2020. It is unclear if vehicles will have to be powered exclusively by batteries to qualify under the plan. Plug-in hybrid vehicles have on-board gasoline engines that provide power during extended rides.
