The article announces the launch of a high-definition digital video recorder called the ViP 922 built by EchoStar Technologies by satellite pay-television provider DISH Network. The device incorporates Sling Media's technology that allows people to access programs available on their home televisions from personal computers or cell phones. To date the technology popularly called place-shifting required a separate Sling Media device called a Slingbox, and one of the major complaints about the Slingbox is that it is difficult to install.
