ABSTRACT
The article discusses the recovery strategy of the telecommunications company Alcatel-Lucent. The company plans to reduce costs from its legacy businesses and technologies it views as either too mature or unprofitable. The company will also dismissed about 1,000 managers and about 5,000 independent contractors, which is about half of the firm's total number of contractors.
