ABSTRACT
The article explores the outlook of analysts on the speculation that Apple would release a $99 low-end version of the iPhone as a Wal-Mart blue light special. One analyst said that the move may backfire because the low end device will drain some of the iPhone's cool factor. Shahid Khan, an analyst with IBB Consulting, believes that the move is well-timed and brilliant since it will enable Apple to get the iPhone into the hands of more consumers who are more watchful of their spending in line with the economic crisis.
