ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the energy provisions of an economic stimulus package proposed by the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama in January 2009. The stimulus package includes $150 billion to be spent over 10 years to spur next-generation biofuels, plug-in hybrid vehicles, a digital electric grid and new low-emission coal plants. The plan also calls for a national renewable portfolio standard requiring 25% of electricity produced in the country in 2025 to come from renewable resources.
