ABSTRACT
The article reports that IBM has been selected by U.S. utility American Electric Power to be its systems integrator for its plan to upgrade electric grid with smarter, next-generation technology. IBM as a system integrator will provide support services such as program management, systems planning, and systems interfaces. IBM increasingly is offering products and services to electric utilities to help them make their grid systems more efficient. IBM has deals with utilities CenterPoint Energy, Houston Electric in Texas and Dong Energy in Denmark.
