ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decline in Europe's venture capital activity in the third quarter of 2008. This was attributed to a fall in information technology (IT) deals. According to Dow Jones VentureSource, venture capital investment in Europe decreased to $1.5 billion on 209 deals, compared with investment of $1.6 billion on 245 deals in 2007. The investments included only 85 IT deals worth $493 million, falling by 23% from $1.6 billion on 245 deals in 2007.
