GreenSmith Debuts Battery System

The article reports that GreenSmith Energy Management Systems has unveiled a battery system it says will help reduce the need for more costly power plants and make solar power more practical at homes and businesses. According to chief executive Rodney Smith, by mid-2009 the startup will close first round venture funding of about $20 million, led by Blue Lagoon Capital. GreenSmith's battery systems are intended for purchases from utilities and to be placed at homes, apartment complexes, and businesses, according to the author.
