ABSTRACT
The article discusses a colorimetric test for the estimation of lactobacillus counts in saliva. Using saliva specimens received at the Caries Diagnostic Laboratory Service, a comparison is made between the simple colorimetric test and actual lactobacillus counts within the saliva. The potential usefulness of an accurate and simple lactobacillus estimation procedure for application within dental offices is also noted.
