ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the sports of broomball. A hybrid sports that combines elements of ice hockey and soccer, broomball was reportedly first played in Canada in the early 1900s by streetcar workers using a small soccer ball and corn brooms. Broomball players don shoes with sponge-like soles and use a modified broomstick to advance a five-inch rubber ball down a regulation-sized hockey rink. The sport is governed by the International Federation of Broomball Associations.
