ABSTRACT
The article describes a study that will be conducted by polar explorer Pen Hadow to determine how fast Arctic ice is melting. Hadow and two others will hike into the solid ice region of the Arctic, measure ice thickness and drill into the ice to get accurate estimates. It describes some of the special equipment the team will use.
