ABSTRACT
The article offers tips for burning candles. A calm, steady flame means that the candle's burning process is in balance. When the teardrop shape of the flame is disturbed, constant flickering and smoking occur. Experts suggest never leaving a candle on or near anything that might catch fire. The wick must be trimmed to 1/4 inch before each use and the wax pool must be freed of wick trimmings, matcges and debris. A knife or a sharp object should not be used to remove wax drippings from a glass votive holder.
