ABSTRACT
The article reports on the state of the chain store sales in the U.S. The index of the International Council of Shopping Centers Inc. (ICSC) has indicated that the sales dropped by 1.7% on a year-over-year same-store basis in December 2008. Furthermore, it reveals that the holiday sales for the November and December 2008 decreased 2.2%, compared to the season in 2007.
