ABSTRACT
The article reports on the opposition of county officials, businesses and Clark County School District against the proposed tax increase and budget cuts in Nevada. The state is facing a projected $1.6 billion budget deficit from 2009 to 2011. Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid said that the budget cuts proposed by Governor Jim Gibbons are not applicable to some areas such as waste. Steven Hill of Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce said that additional income tax on business is a bad idea.
