ABSTRACT
The article reports on the projected increase in the in-patient treatment of diabetes in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 2020. Daman, the national heath insurance company, stated that the concern over in-patient costs for diabetes treatment is the country's biggest health problem. According to the article, the cost would decrease if the population is willing to make lifestyle changes and if diabetes is treated based on national guidelines.
