Empty Closet;Dec2008/Jan2009, Issue 419, p1C
The article emphasizes the implication of keeping silent about one's identity for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in relation to the book "The Family Heart: A Memoir of our Son's Coming Out," by Robb Forman Dew. In the author's view, the process of coming out is a journey into honesty and an effort to live a life free from shame. He states that coming out of the closet means breaking the silence. Also cited are the efforts of the Rochester Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) in New York to break the silence.
