This article reports on the plan of furniture store IKEA to adopt software to manage staff scheduling in 2008. IKEA is hoping to tackle the problem of customer queues. The application, part of the Kronos for Retail system, analyzes trading data, sales figures and employee availability to produce the optimal schedule and meet demand at busy times.
