Rug vendors pull out all the stops to maintain sales

The article discusses the strategies of several U.S. rug vendors to overcome the near-term economic and operational challenges presented by recessionary fall-out, retailer consolidation, dealer financial viability and oversaturation of the rub market. Opinion shared by many rug vendors on the condition of the rug market in 2008 is discussed. Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based Colonial Mills is focusing on lean manufacturing and quick turnaround to meet a growing consumer preference for U.S.-based products.
