ABSTRACT
Blood transfusion-related immunomodulation results in either immune activation, associated with a variety of transfusion reactions, or immunosuppression, associated with an increased predisposition to infections and postsurgical cancer recurrence. This article reviews the major complications associated with blood transfusion.
