ABSTRACT
Th article discusses research conducted by Peter Kelly and colleagues of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology on the composition of a magma lake at the top of Antarctica's Mount Erebus. This analysis was conducted via lava bombs spewed by the lake from 1972 to 2004. The glass and mineral composition of these bombs indicated that the temperature of the magma had been stable during the period contradicting a previous hypothesis of a cooling trend.
