ABSTRACT
The article reports that Yoshinori Nishino and colleagues at the RIKEN SPring-8 Center in Hyogo, Japan have recorded three-dimensional sectional images of a human chromosome via coherent X-ray diffraction microscopy. While electron microscopes and fluorescent light microscopy are insufficient for studying chromosomes, this methodology offers a full view of electron density in a single chromosome.
