Italian universities lose freedom to appoint staff

The article states that a law approved by the parliament of Italy will restrict the freedom that Italian universities have over choosing their own professors. New rules set forth state that a five-person selection committee will oversee each professor's appointment, and a university actively recruiting a professor can only appoint one member to the board.
