ABSTRACT
The article discusses the procedural changes of the Depository Trust Co. (DTC), approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to its direct registration system (DRS). By March 31, 2009, all U.S. listed and Canadian dually listed companies will have to let investors hold shares through a direct registration program operated by DTC since 1995. It is noted that the approved alterations aimed to reduce the DRS Profile system's rejection rate.
