ABSTRACT
The article discusses the historical development and contemporary (2007) state of librarianship in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Flooding and building problems as well as holdings in the Bibliotheca Nacional (National Library) are described. The contents of the Biblioteca del Congreso de la Nación (National Library of Congress) are similarly presented. Two university libraries' and specialty libraries' holdings are also remarked on.
