The article presents information on the risk of death by drowning for persons with epilepsy. Meta-analysis showed that the overall death rate in persons with epilepsy was 8.1 per 1000 person-years of follow-up and death by drowning constituted 5% of all deaths. It was thus concluded that persons with epilepsy have higher risk for death by drowning than does the general population.
