ABSTRACT
The article reports that Dow Chemical Co.'s plant closings planned for 2009 will include the firm's EPDM plant in Seadrift, Texas. This was revealed by a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Dow makes its Nordel-brand EPDM at the facility, which has annual capacity to make 110,000 metric tons of the material annually. The closing is part of Dow's plan to eliminate 5,000 full-time jobs and 6,000 contractor positions in 2009. INSET: Vehicle, construction woes impact DuPont.
