Sands lays off staff at Venetian, Palazzo

The article reports the job reductions initiated by the gaming company Las Vegas Sands Corp. at The Venetia and Palazzo. Ron Reese, spokesman for Las Vegas Sands said that the 216 laid off workers is about 2% of the work force of the casino. Las Vegas Sands executive vice president Rob Goldstein during the their 2008 3rd quarter earnings conference revealed that the reduction in work force and changes in various programs, policies and procedures are part of the of the cost-cutting scheme to save $100 million.
