ABSTRACT
The article reports on the study about drug-eluting stents (DES), which shows mortality benefit in acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The study was based on an unselected, population based cohort of 7217 patients undergoing PCI with stenting for AMI over an 18-month period in Massachusetts between 2003 and 2004. Result shows that it may be more effective to use DES rather than bare metal stents (BMS) in AMI.
